How to Avoid Municipal Pipeline Failures
Pipeline ruptures and failures can cost businesses and municipalities millions of dollars and cause significant health and safety risks. For lines transporting raw sewage, wastewater, and other hazardous materials that degrade the integrity of pipes over time, regular inspection is the best way to detect any issues before they have a chance to advance. As a leader in the pipeline inspection and analysis industry, PICA Corp uses an extensive range of In-Line Inspection (ILI) Tools to provide clients with accurate condition analysis information. Learn more about our inline inspection devices below.
At PICA, we take pride in developing and implementing tools that exceed industry expectations and deliver the best possible information. Our range of RFT and CCTV tools are reliable, innovative, and allow us to work efficiently. Our current roster of equipment includes:
The RAFT (Restricted Access Flexible Tool) is one of the newest additions to our lineup and is specifically designed to non-destructively assess the steel cylinder within concrete pipes. Completely self-contained, the unit has battery power, data storage, and distance tracking all integrated within the tool itself.
The EMIT (Electromagnetic Inspection Technology) was released in 2017 and is designed to assess large diameter pipes (up to 78”, steel, cast or ductile iron and PCCP pipes) in a non-destructive manner.
Unlike other tools, the EMIT’s collapsible design allows technicians to insert sections of the tool through small access locations, like manways, which eliminates the need for excavation and cutting of the pipe for access.
Internal Bracelet Probe
A variation of the external Bracelet Probe (BP), this tool can be used internally within short sections of large diameter pipelines where ILI tool access is restricted due to bends or pipe size changes. This tool can scan through cement mortar liners (CML), providing accurate information about pipe wall thickness variances. Data from the BP is fed to a lap-top computer which both displays and instantly records the condition of the pipe.
Screen snap-shots can be saved of the 3D color-maps, strip charts and voltage planes which are used to size any defects detected.
PICA Corp is pleased to announce that as of September, 2018 we have added CCTV and laser profilometry equipment to our resources.
